Ouahiba Boukaabar  Teacher Ouahiba has been teaching mathematics and science for four years. She earned her Master’s in Education in Mathematics from California University of Pennsylvania in 2006. She holds a bachelor in Computer Science from Algeria. Constantly studying new concepts about the teaching of mathematics and about education. She is currently attending the Literacy Workshops – Reading and Spelling Instruction Using the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Trained and member of Connected Math Academy, Everyday Math Academy, and the national Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Karen Bridge  Teacher Karen graduated in 2003 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Penn State University.  She obtained her Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum in 2007 also from Penn State University.  Karen has been a substitute teacher for three years in various public school districts and in various grades.  She was also a first grade classroom aide for one year.  Karen taught kindergarten for the past two years at a private school located in the North Hills.   She has attended various professional development courses and workshops.  Some of those are bullying prevention, a smart discipline workshop, Singapore Math Workshops, an Interactive and Engaging Teaching Strategies Workshop and a workshop on simple and effective centers.  Karen is currently attending the Reading and Spelling Instruction Using the Orton-Gillingham Approach Workshop, which is being offered by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.  This is her first year at UAP and she teaches first grade.
Mary Chandler  Teacher Mary is a graduate of Robert Morris College and has over 30 years of experience in working with children. This will be Teacher Mary's 7th year at UAP. Teacher Mary is currently attending Point Park University and working on receiving Early Childhood Education Certification.
Hoda El-lskandarani  Teacher Hoda is teaching Arabic and Quranic studies. She graduated from faculty of Medicine, University of Alexanderia. Egypt. This is her second year at UAP.
Melissa Grobmeyer  Teacher Melissa graduated in 2003 with her degree in Elementary Education and a minor in childhood development.  She worked as an instructional aide for 2 years assisting special needs children.  She also worked as a long term substitute in frist, second and fifth grades.  She has attended some of the various professional development courses: diversity training, differentiated instruction, crisis intervention, bullying prevention and reading strategies for kindergarten-second grades.  This is her third year at UAP.
AbdAllah Harouna  Teacher AbdAllah is the teacher for Language Arts and Social Studies for the 4 and 5/6 grades. This year is the first year for teacher AbdAllah to be with the UAP.
Jennifer Hess  Teacher Jennifer teaches Pre-K class.
Shama Khan  Teacher Shama was a Sunday Schools teacher prior to joining UAP.  This will be teacher Shama's 3rd year at UAP. She is furthering my education in young child education and has applied for a CDA (Child Development Associate). Sr. Shama is currently waiting for her work to be officially reviewed.
Hamza Perez  Teacher  Hamza is a part-time teacher for Islamic Studies.
Sulayman Perez  Teacher  Sulayman is a part-time volunteer for Physical Education
Manal Sourkatti  Teacher Manal is part-time teacher of Arabic and Quranic studies. She graduated from Juba University, School of Medicine.
Carol Wharton  Teacher  Carol has 18 years teaching experience in Pittsburgh Public Schools and various private schools. She is also former Director of After-school Programs for PALS. She earned 2 years experience as Cultural Diversity Trainer to various private schools and businesses. She coached track and cross country teams and the sport of rowing at Three Rivers Rowing Association. She earned Under Graduate Degree BA from the Westminster College, PA and Teacher Certification from the same college. She did Post Graduate coursework at the Carlow College, Chatham University and University of Pittsburgh (Arabic Language Studies). She was also Teaching English as a Second Language;    
Pati Waugh Teacher Pati is the lead teacher in the Pre-K classroom at the Universal Academy of Pittsburgh.  She earned a Bachelors degree from Robert Morris University in Elementary Education.  She recently finished her second certification in Early Childhood Education from Point Park University in April 2009.  This is her third year teaching at UAP.   

The qualifications of UAP teachers meet and sometimes exceed state guidelines for teachers in a public school.
