August 1999 -- School started in the basement of
the Islamic Center of
Pittsburgh, with seven students enrolled in First
Grade.
August 2001 -- Moved to the
former Dar' Salam building on Forbes Avenue in Oakland,
allowing for more space for Preschool through 3rd grade.
August 2004
-- Moved into our current building. Our school has now close to 100
students, 14 dedicated teachers and a supportive
administrative staff.
Throughout this time, our mission was and will continue
to be driven by our commitment to nurture a child to grow and become a true worshiper of
God.
UAP plays its role in achieving this goal by means of a
two-pronged approach:
-
Protective, which shields the child from
negative, un-Islamic practices, during the early
formative years, when such influence may have a
significant negative effect on the child
-
Proactive, which nurtures the intellectual,
emotional, social and spiritual aspects of a
well-rounded personality
We strive to produce confident, competent individuals,
who can go out into the American society and contribute
positively to the society, without compromising their
Islamic beliefs and/or practices. |
